Muirhead, 34, was first charged in June with the federal offence of using the internet for child pornography.

He immediately took unpaid leave from The Collectors and his hosting role on ABC Radio in Hobart.

In August, he was charged with the state-based offence of possessing child exploitation material.

NOVA has launched an initiative to allow personal playlists to be added on the network.

Nova today announced the launch of The Playlist Project, a new initiative that allows music lovers to broadcast their personal playlists on commercial radio.
The Playlist Project, powered by Nova and Myspace and presented by Just Car Insurance, is the first collaboration between two music outlets that allows playlist creators to construct their own show on the Nova network.
If you think you’ve got a great playlist or know someone who has, then submit it online at www.theplaylistproject.com.au
15 finalists, determined by an expert judging panel, will broadcast a one hour show from 10pm weekdays on the Nova network. The creator of the playlist with the most votes, as determined by Nova and MySpace audiences, will win a one week residency programming a nightly show on Nova and will score $5000.
Mohit Bhargava, dmg Radio Australia’s Digital Product Manager said, “Digital media allows anyone to compile and broadcast their music playlists to reflect all aspects of their life from working out to road trips and parties.

On Myspace alone there are over 110,000 playlists created each month in Australia. The Playlist Project has been developed to celebrate this and entrusts our audience with an opportunity to broadcast their playlist on Nova.”

Nova’s The Playlist Project launches on Monday 7 February with registrations closing on 28 February. The one hour playlist broadcasts will kick off on Monday 7 March with the winner announced on 28 March.

Don Burke is set to join 2SM to broadcast his popular weekend programme.

The 2SM Super Radio Network is talking to former 2UE weekend host Don Burke about broadcasting his popular programme to regional NSW and Queensland.

Burke had talks with 2SM owner Bill Caralis on Monday at the same time as former colleague John Laws recommenced his career at the struggling network.

A 2UE insider has told Confidential they wanted to syndicate Burke’s program to regional affiliates but not air it in Sydney, giving outgoing weekday breakfast host John Stanley the shift instead.

Burke claims that was news to him.

Ray Hadley has quit SKY News to join the Nine Network's news, current affairs and sports lineup.

2GB Morning host Ray Hadley has quit his subscription television programme Hadley! after only four episodes to join the Nine Network as a news, sports and current affairs contributor.

It’s believed the 2012 London Olympics, of which Nine has the rights, was a big factor in Hadley’s decision, as was SKY News’ operations, which are best described as “shoe-string.”

The Australian’s media blog Diary today claims that plenty of SKY News staff did not want to work with Hadley, because they don’t like him or his opinions, and because they don’t rate him as a TV talent.

The first episode of the show featured a girl in a bikini in boxing gloves. Serious staff at Sky thought it was tacky, and would hurt their brand.

Canberra bureau reporter Ashleigh Gillon point-blank refused to play the role of the “glamorous blonde” from Canberra who popped up on Hadley! with political gossip and, because she’s a serious reporter, was offended to be asked, Caroline Overington claims.

FOX FM breakfast star Matt Tilley has broken his back in a cycling accident.

FOX FM 101.9 breakfast personality Matt Tilley has a broken back after being knocked off his bike in St Kilda on Saturday.

The keen cyclist was hit by a car, fracturing two vertebrae and a rib and bruising his kidney.

“I was riding along past the St Kilda Sea Baths, obviously training for London 2012, and got knocked off my bike by a guy who swung across the bike lane… and just smash,” he told his Fox FM breakfast colleagues.

“And I sort of did the human tumbleweed along the road for a while. Eventually I came to a stop and an ambulance came and I got the green whistle,” he told the Herald Sun.

Tilley said the motorist was “very apologetic” and shocked when the top rated breakfast host gave him his name.

He spent the night at The Alfred Hospital and is now recovering at home.
